Arthonavesh:
Arthonavesh is a dynamic and creative platform for the students of Department of Economics, Iswar Saran Degree College. The main aim of the platform is to provide a diverse range of innovative and influential ideas and to promote discussions and debates on current affairs regarding economics discipline among the students. On the platform of Arthonavesh, the department organizes wide range of activities such as:
Students' Orientation Week
Every year the department organizes the students' orientation program in which the faculty members address the first year undergraduate students. They introduce the students to the time-table and the syllabus and lay the platform to build basic knowledge of economics among them.
Guest Speaker Programme
The department invites renowned speakers and subject experts every month to discuss various theoretical and behavioural approaches towards economics.
Extra-curricular activities
The department organizes various forms of extra-curricular activities such as quiz competitions, classroom debates, discussions, essay writing competitions, poster-making competitions, educational tours, etc.
Symposium
The department organizes a Symposium every year in the month of February after the presentation of the Indian Union Budget in the Parliament. It provides an opportunity to the undergraduate and postgraduate students to share their views regarding Union Budget.
Day's Celebration
"We believe that we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children": in order to make the dictum true, the department celebrates various days like World Earth Day, Environment Day, Water Day etc. to spread awareness among the students regarding sustainable environment. Activities like tree plantation, poster presentation, and campaigning programmes are organized on these occasions.
Workshops
To develop the technical skills of students in data analysis, the department organizes one-week training program on SPSS and STATA for the postgraduate students.
Seminars/Conferences
Another major activity of the department is to organize seminars and conferences. The purpose of this initiative is to bring together research scholars and academicians to debate on issues and challenges relating to economics. This provides a platform to the students to interact and enhance their knowledge.
The department organized a two-day National Seminar on the topic 'Global Economic Crisis and India: Issues and Challenges' which was sponsored by UGC during the year 2011-12
