NAME OF CONVENER : DR. MAN SINGH

The Department of Education was established in the year 1970 and has been actively imparting quality education since then. There are four sanctioned posts in the department, which are all filled up. The department comprises four faculty members, two are Associate Professors with M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees and two are Assistant Professors with Ph.D. degrees. All the faculty members are actively contributing to the academic and administrative activities of the college. Dr. Man Singh is the convener of the department. He is also the Chief Proctor of the college and Co-ordinator of UPRTOU, Prayagraj and Convener of Department of Psychology . He has several research papers and a published book to his credit. Dr. Anuja Saluja is a senior faculty of the department. She is the Convener of the Women Cell and Department of the English. She has a number of research projects, articles and a book to her credit. She has also organized many personality development and capacity building workshops in the college.

The other faculty members are Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav and Dr. Avinash Pandey who are actively and efficiently contributing to the teaching-learning activities of the department. They have a large number of published work to their credit . Regular contributions are also made by the faculty of the department to support the extension activities of the college. The strength of the department is the highly qualified and efficient faculty which is good both in academics and administrative tasks. All the faculty members are adept at handling ICT in classrooms and often employ multimedia in the presentation of lectures in their classrooms.

Besides the lecture method of teaching, they also conduct group discussions, projects, assignments and monthly tests in their teaching-learning activities. As the subject of education is closely linked to psychology, sociology and philosophy, efforts are made to have interdisciplinary linkages with these subjects whenever possible. The department often organizes special lectures by senior subject experts for the benefit of students. Field trips and educational tours are also organized once a year for both the undergraduate and post graduate students. Teachers Day is celebrated in the department where the students get a platform to perform cultural activities and showcase their talent. Remedial classes are also organized by the department. Both the senior faculty are members of the Board of Baccalaureate Studies, University of Allahabad. Pre Ph.D. course work and many workshops related to research methodology and data analysis have also been organized by the department .

Best Practices : The department takes care to undertake innovative activities in teaching and learning through out the year for the overall development of our students. For this we have evolved some practices which contribute towards empowering our students with life skills for their future. We have a programme named "Aaj Ka Samachar" which is a five minutes segment at the beginning of every class. In this way the students participate and develop an interest in general affairs and news paper reading, which helps them in their general knowledge and face later life with confidence. The department also organizes a quiz on the lessons taught every 15 days, in which the students participate and these provide evaluation for both teachers and the students. Besides this all the teachers of the department take ICT enabled classes at least twice in a month. The teachers also provide free books to the needy students. The department has also constituted financial awards for the topper students of both U.G. and P.G. final year examination.
